The University of North Texas (UNT) is about an hour north of the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth.This talk shares our process to improve our institutional data ecosystem and how this effort played a role in how we grew enrollment by 30% since 2013, improved 3-year, 4-year, and 6-year graduation rates and ultimately awarded over 12,000 degrees per year (a 46% increase from 2012/13). Examples of analytic products utilized by faculty, staff, and executives will be shared to contextualize how data is done differently now at UNT. UNT was recognized in 2019 with a prestigious CIO 100 award for innovation in analytics alongside major fortune 500 companies. In 2023, UNT was selected as one of seven institutions of higher education as an exemplar in the power of transformative analytics under the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation AIR/EDUCAUSE/NACUBO grant to promote better data informed and analytic decision making within higher education.
